Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 cups sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup butter

1 cup water

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

2 eggs

1/2 cup buttermilk

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350° Grease 13x9x2 baking pan. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt. In a medium saucepan combine butter, cocoa, and water. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. With a hand-held mixer on medium speed, beat chocolate mixture into the dry mixure until thoroughly blended. Add eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla. Beat for 1 minute. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for 35 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Make frosting while cake bakes. Pour warm Texas Sheet Cake Frosting over the warm cake, spreading evenly. Cool cake thoroughly before cutting.
