Ingredients

100 gm butter

100gm dark chocolate (70% cocoa solids)

1/2 cup cream

1 cup sugar

1 cup brown sugar

1 cup ground almond

1 cup milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

3 eggs

3/4 cup Self Raising Flour

3/4 cup plain flour

Chocolate Sauce

150ml heavy cream

150gm dark chocolate

2 or more tbsp sugar (to taste)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 180C (350F) and grease and line a 22cm round cake tin. Melt the butter, dark chocolate and cream in a pot. Bring to simmer then remove from the heat. Add the sugar, ground almond, milk, vanilla extract and eggs to the chocolate mixture and mix well. Add in the sifted flours and pour into the greased and lined cake pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 55 - 60 minutes.

Chocolate Sauce While the cake is baking, prepare the chocolate sauce. Bring the cream slowly to a boil and remove from the heat. Add in the dark chocolate and sugar (to taste). Cool before spreading over the cooled cake.
