Ingredients

cup sugar

tablespoon cornstarch

Dash salt

2/3

cup water

cups sweet cherries, pitted, halved

tablespoons kirsch or 1/2 teaspoon almond extract

(14-oz.) pkg. fat-free brownies, cut into 6 pieces

cups nonfat vanilla ice cream

Preparation

In medium saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, salt and water. Cook over medium heat until mixture thickens, stirring constantly. Stir in cherries. Reduce heat to low; cook 3 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; stir in kirsch.*

To serve, place brownies on individual dessert plates. Top each with 1/2 cup ice cream. Spoon warm cherry sauce over ice cream. Serve immediately.
