Ingredients

12 eggs, separated

1/2 tsp salt

1 pound butter

3 pounds powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp brandy or rum flavoring (I used the real stuff)

1 tsp mace

1 tsp nutmeg

1 tsp ground cloves

1 tsp all spice.

Preparation

Beat egg whites until stiff. Beat egg yolks until light. Cream butter and powdered sugar until well mixed (Betty’s mother-in-law’s recipe said ‘until crumbly’, but that never happened……I just mixed mine until smooth.). Add yolks and all other seasonings. Fold in egg whites

Then…..after you make the batter, you put a shot of brandy and a shot of rum (or two shots of brandy) in a tall mug. Fill with boiling water. Add 2-3 tablespoons of Tom and Jerry mix and ENJOY! You need to add enough batter so it isn’t ‘weak’ if you know what I mean….it is good after coming in from the cold.
