Ingredients
A small splash of olive oil (about 2 tablespoons)
About 25 garlic cloves
3 cans crushed tomatoes (I like Progresso)
Fresh basil if you have it (chop up a nice handful of leaves), otherwise use about 2 tablespoons dried
1 tablespoon dried oregano
Preparation
- Heat olive oil in large pot until shiny.
- Crush the garlic cloves into the oil, taking care not to burn.
- When the garlic is soft, add the tomatoes.
- Stir in basil and oregano.
- Simmer on low heat – for at least two hours – stirring about every 15 minutes.
- It’s done when it’s at the right thickness for whatever you are planning to use it for.
