Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa

1/4 tsp kosher salt

1/2 cup (1 stick) sweet cream butter, melted

2 eggs, well beaten

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cup (30) caramels, unwrapped

1 cup chopped pecans

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray 8 x 8-inch baking pan.

In a large bowl, thoroughly combine flour, sugar, brown sugar, cocoa and salt. Add butter, eggs and vanilla; beat until mixture is thoroughly blended and smooth. Spread half the batter in pan; arrange layer of caramels evenly over batter; scatter nuts over caramels; spread remaining batter over nuts.

Bake 25 minutes until firm but still moist. Cool brownies in pan. Cut into 2-inch squares.
